Club News – Important Info - Countdown to Round 1

11 Apr 2021 by Michael Whitney

Hi Parents and Players,

We are only 1 week away from our first game of real footy in 19 months! For our U8s, U9s and our U10 Girls your junior footy career is just about to start, so there is a lot of excitement around the Gunn at the moment. Behind the scenes we are working like crazy to make everything happen so that we can kick-off this Sunday. Please see below important information for the week ahead.

Updated Training Schedule

The Inseason Training Schedule starts tomorrow Monday 12th April and is available on the Homepage of the Club Website. Over the next 24 hours Team App will be updated with the team training times.

In meantime you can view the Training Schedule here https://ormondjfc.com.au/

Coaches and Team Managers Thank You

A BIG thank you to all the Ormond JFC Coaches and Team Managers, some of whom are new to their roles, for stepping up and taking on these vital positions at the club which enable your children to play week in, week out. Please ensure you support your Coaches and Team Managers by volunteering each week with Game Duties.

Call for Game Day Volunteers

We need match day roles filled, otherwise games cannot take place. Please check with your Coach or Team Manager to see where you can assist. Modified rules teams need parent umpires, all teams need a trainer. Other matchday roles will be done by a roster by your Team Manager. I ask you to step up – we need match day roles filled, otherwise games cannot take place

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

It is essential for at least 1 parent of every player to have a Working with Children Check completed so you can assist with volunteer roles at the club.

There are also jobs this upcoming week to be completed at the Clubrooms. A little painting and some organisation. Please contact me president@ormondjfc.com.au if you have any time to spare and any skills with a paintbrush or basic carpentry.

Friday April 16th – Mouthguard Collection, Merch pick-up and BBQ

This Friday evening from 4.30 – 6.30pm we will have the Clubrooms open for Mouthguard collection (for mouthguards fitted on Family Day), and any last-minute items that have not already been collected.

Order shorts and socks – order these online via our online store
https://ormondjfc.com.au/shop/ by 9am Monday, that’s tomorrow Monday 12th April. Orders will be distributed to your team managers for them to give out at training this week

We will also be holding a BBQ on Friday night under our new lights on the main ground.

Committee Shout-outs

I want to sincerely thank our new Club Secretary Kaylene Simpson, assisted by Tracy Jobling in the work they have been doing since January with gathering, packing, transporting, and distributing Hoodies, shorts and socks. Your countless hours have not gone unnoticed by many in our Club.

Anton Levine, as you all know, works tirelessly as our VP Football Operations and Coaching Co-ordinator, arranging our development program, speciality coaching appointments, training roster, grading and many other activities. We are so lucky to have Anton at OJFC.

Joanne Turner is our new Team Manager Co-ordinator and doing a brilliant job running our TM training program with another session scheduled for Monday evening. So is John Howard arranging accreditation for our Trainers. Every team needs at least 1 trainer, so it is not too late to put your hand up and help your child’s team.

Big thanks to VP Brett Hardiman for all his work on TeamApp and our website, the online shop and merchandise and club communications. In addition, Brett initiated the Ormond Footy Camp, which was hugely successful, attracting 50-60 kids each of the 3 days including kids from neighbouring clubs.

A big thank you to the rest of our Committee for your work so far, arranging our Mentor Program, Sponsors, Finances, Property, Auskick, History and many other activities.

The OJFC Community thanks you all for your dedication and hard work.

It is going to be a busy week as we get ready for Round 1.

Please remember, Our Mission at Ormond JFC is to provide kids of all abilities a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment which develops, promotes, and encourages participation in Australian Rules Football.

Ormond is proud to be a leader SMJFL for standards of Player, Official and Parent behaviour. Please always keep these values in mind as we launch into Season 2021.

Go Monders!!!!
